Reader Cadets are established cadet fencers 10 to 16 years of age as standard, they receive ongoing coaching. Covering Training, Tatics, Techniques & Timing. We fence during term time. The Reader Cadets are named after an individual who was instrumental in the successful implementation of the club (Paul Reader) who passed away at the end of 2007 before the club started in January 2008. We operate the club under the Reader principles which starts and ends with Respect;
RESPECT: *Respect for other fencers and officials, Not belittling, ridiculing, bullying or insulting ____________________________________________________________________ ENERGY: *Channeling both physical and mental energy into improving ones skill Taking responsibility of time management to improve your fencing knowledge & skill ____________________________________________________________________ AIDING: *Aiding in the smooth running of fencing events, bouts and classes Without waiting to be asked, seeing where you can rightly contribute and contributing ____________________________________________________________________ DISCIPLINE: *Showing disciplined behaviour in following the rules/instructions of the club Not negatively affecting the smooth running of the club e.g. disrupting fencing bouts/officials ____________________________________________________________________ ENGAGEMENT: *Engaging with and showing COMMITMENT to the sport and the club Being earnest in your attempts to apply your fencing knowledge and fencing skills ____________________________________________________________________ RESPECT: *Respect for the sport of fencing and BFC and not bringing either into disrepute In the outside world and other visited venues reflecting the values of these codes.
